annapurna circuit

Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the best treks that Nepal has to offer. Magnificent mountain views, diverse Nepalese culture, rich biodiversity and picturesque landscape have been attracting experienced and adventurous trekkers since it was opened as a trekking route in 1977.

The trek starts at an altitude of less than 1,100m at Syange, and follows the Marshyangdi River that eventually leads to the 5,416 m Thorung La Pass, the highest point on the Annapurna Circuit. Due to the difficulties inherent in crossing such a high pass, the circuit is usually trekked in a counter-clockwise direction. In traveling clockwise, the longer ascent and shorter descent from west to east is too much for most people to manage in a single day.

After crossing the pass the circuit now descends to Muktinath and through the ethnic Tibetan villages of the upper Kali Gandaki River Gorge, the world’s deepest gorge. The final days of the circuit lead back to Poon Hill where we experience an amazing sunrise before heading into Pokhara.
