Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek (24 Days) | North & South BC Circuit

24 Days

This 24-day Kanchenjunga Base Camp Circuit is the classic, expedition-length trek to both sides of the world’s 3rd-highest mountain. Starting in far-eastern Nepal, you journey from lush lowland villages to alpine valleys and glaciers, reaching Pangpema (North Base Camp) and the Oktang viewpoint above Ramche (South Base Camp). The circuit links the two sides over the wild Sele Le pass group, so you avoid backtracking and experience Kanchenjunga’s full variety—fern forests, rhododendron, dramatic rock and ice, and Tibetan-influenced hamlets.

We pace the route conservatively with smart acclimatization in Ghunsa and Kambachen, then push higher to Lhonak and Pangpema before crossing to the south for the Yalung Glacier amphitheater at Ramche/Oktang. The region is restricted and remains delightfully remote; teahouses are simple but welcoming, and a licensed guide is required. Best seasons are spring (Mar–May) and autumn (Sep–Nov) for stable weather and clear views. If you want a month-length wilderness adventure that still stays teahouse-based, this is Nepal’s ultimate off-the-beaten-path classic.
